Kids crack me up!

Last weekend I went to Auburn to spend some quality time with my nieces and nephews. Knox was super sweet and just explored his new world when I was with him on Sunday. But Saturday was filled with P, B, & J. At ages 7, 5, and 2 1/2, they always have something great to say! So I thought I would capture some of the things that made me laugh. (And as a "good" aunt, I tried not to laugh in front of them for some of these things.)

That morning while the parents were running an errand . . .
Jack: I want my Daddy.
Me: He's at Hobby Lobby.
Jack: I want you to go to Hobby Lobby so my mommy and daddy can come home.

When I corrected her pronunciation of a word in an article about how a tornado forms . . .
Porter: (sigh) As you can see, I'm not an adult. I'm only a kid in second grade. I can't read every word in the world!

While visiting the petting zoo . . .
Me: What did your mom say? You're supposed to listen to me.
Betsy: Nope. My mommy didn't say that. (pause) My daddy did.

As we attempted to straighten up the living room . . .
Me: B, will you put this book over there in the box?
Betsy: Nope. I'm going to sit right here and be lazy for the rest of my life.

After I tricked Jack into coming inside (because I was tired of tromping through the woods) . . .
Jack: I want to go outside.
Me: No, let's sit here and rest a few minutes.
Jack: (screaming) I want to go outside!!!
Me: No, and asking like that isn't going to work.
Jack: It WILL work!!!

(But it didn't! Heeheehee)

When I corrected her that an extra point is not the touchdown . . .
Porter: (sigh) Why don't you just let me call it what I want to?

(As you can see, she doesn't like to be wrong!)

Immediately after throwing a fit b/c I had to change his diaper . . .
Jack: (wrapping his arms around my neck) I'm a good boy!

And the sweetest words of all . . .
Porter: Can't you stay another day and go home tomorrow morning?

  1. My kids' rude comments and bad behavior sound much funnier in blog land than in person.... ;)
